Halebeedu
Halebeedu, formerly called Dwarasamudra, was once a wealthy capital of the Hoysala rulers. Though the city was reduced to ruins in the 14th century due to repeated attacks by the Delhi Sultanate, a few temples survived the attacks. One such is the Hoysaleshwara temple in Helebeedu, built between 1121 CE and 1160 CE and it still stands tall as an architectural marvel. What is outstanding in this temple dedicated to God Shiva are the panels that depict stories from scriptures. This exhibit showcases sculptures that depict events from scriptures such as Shiva Purana, Bhagavatha Purana, and Devi Mahatmyam.
